Airmen with the 121st Air Refueling Wing, Ohio Air National Guard, celebrated the National Day of Prayer May 4, 2017 at Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base.

“The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May,” said Lt. Col. Curtiss Wagner, a Chaplain with the 121st ARW.  “It invites people of all faiths to come together to pray for the nation.”

Each year the 121st ARW celebrates with a breakfast, where special guest speakers can spend time with the Airmen.

This year, speakers at the breakfast included Capt. Tom Whiteman, a chaplain with the 121st ARW and Tech. Sgt. Dean Collins, a chaplain’s assistant with the 121st ARW.

Whiteman and Collins both recently returned from deployment where they were able to provide religious support to military personnel in remote locations.

While traveling, they built chapels, held various religious services, taught music, provided mental and emotional support, and performed baptisms.
