CHIEF MASTER SERGEANT MICHAEL D. DUMAS

Chief Master Sergeant Michael D. Dumas is the Command Chief of the 121st Air Refueling Wing, Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base, Columbus, Ohio. As the Command Chief, he is a key advisor to Commanders and senior staff regarding military readiness, mission effectiveness, professional development, unit health, morale, and the overall welfare of the Wing’s enlisted force.

CMSgt Dumas entered into military service in August 1996. He began his career in the United States Army as an active duty 11B Infantryman assigned to the 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. After leaving the Army, he joined the 179th Airlift Wing in Mansfield, Ohio, as a Computer Networking, Switching, and Cryptographic Repairman (2E2X1). Upon completing his technical schools, he was immediately activated in support of Operations NOBLE EAGLE and ENDURING FREEDOM and has played an active role ever since. CMSgt Dumas became a full-time Information Technology Specialist in 2004. In 2011, he deployed to Kandahar Airbase, Afghanistan, where he served as the SNCOIC of the 702nd Expeditionary Airlift Squadron Communications team in support of the 451st Wing, Army Combat Aviation Brigade, and ultimately the 179th’s C27J mission. Upon return, he was selected and worked as an interim 1st Sergeant for the Medical Group until returning to the Communication Flight, where he would serve in every leadership role across the flight. In 2017, CMSgt Dumas deployed to Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar serving the 379th Expeditionary Communications Squadron, where he and his team were responsible for 78% of the region’s warfighting efforts and communications capabilities. Then finally, in January 2020, CMSgt Dumas was selected as the 179th AW’s Cyber Chief Enlisted Manager. He served as the senior enlisted advisor responsible for supervising flight personnel and the senior technical advisor for planning, development, management, security, and enforcement of Air Force Information Systems. During his tenure, he led his staff through an AFSC transformation and ardently worked to transition the Wing from a highly respected Airlift Wing to a first-of-its-kind Air National Guard Cyberspace Wing. CMSgt Dumas is an ardent believer in constant progression and remains relevant by taking every opportunity to complete leadership and AFSC-related courses.
